how to learn music

Welcome to Bankstown Academy of Music, one of the largest music schools in Sydney’s west.
Our friendly and professional staff pride themselves on their ability to meet the needs of any and all students, to provide world class music tuition as well as advice on everything required to start your musical studies.

Since we first opened our doors in 1999 we’ve helped thousands of students enter the world of music, and in that time we’ve been able to grow our business. Tuition will always be the backbone of our business, but in 2010 Bankstown Academy expanded and we now operate a retail store on our ground floor to cover all musical needs (with generous discounts for our regular students!).

Our philosophy for teaching music is based on meeting the needs of each individual student. Our highly trained and fully accredited teachers draw on their professional experience to tailor their lessons and curriculum to engage with the student, to make music fun and instill an enjoyment and passion for music that will last a life time.

We have a high work ethic and maintain a soft but strict program developed especially for the student. All of our teachers hold AMEB accreditations (Australian Musical Examination Board) and follow the AMEB learning and grading system in theory, practice and examination. Our Academy operates year round.

Students usually start with one half hour lesson per week, and are generally required to dedicate at least half an hour practice each day during the week. As students progress these periods usually need to increase, especially for students who choose to sit AMEB examinations or take music studies to the end of High School. Our teachers are professionals, many performing and recording in the industry, and can help students progress through all stages of music learning.

Feel free to contact us via email through our contact us page, or give our friendly staff a call during business hours, through to 8pm on week nights, and 9am till 3:30pm on Saturdays.
